Mikhail VERKHOLANTZEV (Moscow) was born in Moscow in 1937. He graduated from Moscow Higher Arts-Industrial College (Stroganov’s College) in 1961. A graphic and book designer, painter. Since 1983 a member of the Moscow Union of Artists. Today he is one of the best xylographists– master of woodcut and wood engraving in Europe. He is a winner of bookplate and graphics competitions; he has been awarded a Silver Medal of Russian Academy of Artists in 2003.
